Lower House: Algeria-Tunisia parliamentary group installed

ALGIERS-The Algeria-Tunisia parliamentary group was installed, Tuesday, at the People’s National Assembly (Lower House), the Assembly announced in a communiqué.   

Overseeing the installation ceremony of the parliamentary friendship group, in the presence of Tunisia’s ambassador in Algiers, Ennasser Essayd, the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and the National Community established abroad to the Lower House, Abdelhamid Si Afif recalled the “distinguished, strong and deep relations uniting Algeria and Tunisia”.

He reiterated, in this regard, Algeria’s commitment to “strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and friendship between the two countries, noting, moreover, the imperative for Algeria and Tunisia “to become a locomotive to allow the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) to regain its place and its role, while coordinating their efforts to address the different challenges and threats, such as; terrorism, migration, human trafficking and drugs, on the one hand and to promote an approach to building peace, security and development in the region on the other hand, “he argued.

“The establishment of this group “will contribute to boosting parliamentary diplomacy, supporting parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative bodies, and strengthen the ties of friendship between the two countries in line with the political will of the leaders of the two countries,” he continued.
