Counterterrorism: Army discovers two homemade weapon factories


ALGIERS- Two homemade weapon factories have been discovered in two separate operations in Tebessa and Mascara by Army detachments, which seized arms and munitions, the ministry of National Defense said Wednesday in a statement.


“As part of the fight against organized crime, and following two separate operations conducted in Tebessa and Mascara, combined detachments of People’s National Army in coordination with the services of National Security, discovered, on December 18, 2018, two (02) home-made weapon workshops and seized five (05) firearms, a shotgun, a grenade, (896) cartridges, (16, 5) kilograms of lead, (3.2) kilograms of black powder, (200) capsules, two (02) pairs of binoculars, as well as a quantity of explosive products and various other tools, “the same press release said.

In the same context, a detachment of the ANP arrested, in In Guezzam, three (03) gold washers in possession of two (02) metal detectors, two (02) jackhammers, a generator and (150) while 1,2960 units of parapharmaceutical items were seized in El-Oued, the ministry’s statement added.
