Algeria-Malta’s 5th joint cooperation commission: Draft agreements under discussion to be inked

The fifth session of the Algerian-Maltese Joint Cooperation Commission is to be held Wednesday in Valetta, Malta, the ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday in a statement.

This session comes after visits to Algeria, respectively by the Prime Minister of the Republics of Malta, Joseph Muscat, in November 2015, and the President of the Republic of this country, Marie-Louise Collier Preca, in January 2016, during which it was decided to reactivate the commission,” said the same source.

The Algerian delegation to this session, composed of representatives of several sectors, will be led by the Minister of Energy, Mustapha Guitouni, in his capacity as co-chair of the commission, on the Algerian side.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion of Malta, Carmelo Abela, will co-chair the work on the Maltese side.

The fifth session of the Algerian-Maltese Joint Committee will be an opportunity for both parties to “review the state of bilateral co-operation and the prospects of strengthening it.”

Several draft agreements under discussion, some of which relate to the health sector, veterinary health and plant protection, could be signed on this occasion, “the statement added.
