The Agriculture sector today achieves an annual production value worth more than DZD3,200 billion and its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) stands at 12%, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fishing, Abdelkader Bouazghi announced Monday in Algiers.
On a Parliamentary Day organized by the Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries and Environmental Protection, under the slogan “Agricultural land between concession and partnership: reality and prospects”, the minister said that the development policy adopted, on the recommendation of the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, allowed the agriculture sector to contribute 12.3% of GDP “.
The sector is achieving a growth rate of 3.25% thanks to the increasing rate of production in some agricultural sectors, added the minister.
According to figures released during this Parliamentary Day, the situation of 180,000 farmers was corrected, a percentage of 96%, an operation to be completed at the end of the current year.
The sector is also working to upgrade the agricultural land of private property estimated at 5.7 million hectares to gain economic efficiency and boost national production capacity.
The agricultural sector has benefited, since 2000, colossal amounts exceeding 3000 billion AD and destined to the execution of the programs of development already traced.
