“Indonesia’s construction company Wijaya Karya (Wika) has won development contracts in 10 countries, namely; Algeria, Malaysia, Myanmar, Niger, Nigeria, the Philippines, Senegal, Taiwan, Timor Leste and the United Arab Emirates,” announced the company.
“We will develop 5,000 houses in Algeria, Kinman Bridge in Taiwan and the Presidential Palace in Niger. We want to do our best to complete the projects,” said Wika president director Tumiyana recently when sending off the 311 Wika workers to the three countries.
“Wika had sent 963 of its workers to manage its overseas projects this year,” pointed out Tumiyana, adding that the company plans to send 3,500 workers in 2019.
In this aspect, Sunday’s send-off for the Indonesian workers was attended by State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Rini Soemarno, SOEs Ministry business restructuring and development undersecretary Aloysius Kiik Ro and Wika president commissioner Imam Santoso.
“We are proud of you who have been selected as our nation’s ambassadors, who have been selected to work with Wika [in] representing Indonesia in managing [our] projects abroad,” Rini said in her speech at the same event.
