Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, Noureddine Bedoui, met Monday with his counterparts from the Netherlands, Niger, Djibouti, and Mauritania in Marrakech (Morocco), on the sidelines of the United Nations International Conference for the Adoption of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, said the Ministry in a statement.
Mr. Bedoui takes part in the work of the UN International Conference on Migration, leading a large delegation to the work of the UN International Conference for the adoption of the Global Compact for Safe, orderly and regular Migration.
This two-day conference will discuss “mechanisms for the adoption of ideal migration practices in the context of respect for human rights and the sovereignty of countries “.
In his opening address at the conference, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterrès emphasized the need for radical solutions to the phenomenon of “illegal migration in the context of solidarity, cooperation and the confrontation of future challenges, including the issue of the development and stability of citizens in their regions and countries of origin “.
The conference is attended by a number of heads of state and governments, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
