The 1st edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF-2018) will be held from December 11 to 17 in Cairo, with the attendance of up to 38 Algerian companies led by the Minister of Commerce, Said Djellab.
The Algerian companies taking part in this economic event on the African continent, which is organized by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union (AU), are mainly active in agri-food and agricultural products, household appliances, the mechanical industry and textiles.
The fair aims to boost intra-African trade and support the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area, whose agreement was signed in March 2018 by 44 African Heads of State and Government at the extraordinary AU summit in Kigali (Rwanda).
The aim of this zone is to create a single market for goods and services at continental level by ensuring the free movement of activities and investments. This should allow, according to the AU, to accelerate the establishment of the African Customs Union.
Intra-African trade fair: More than a thousand exhibitors
This first edition is organized in Cairo following the signing of the hosting agreement between Afreximbank, the AU and the Egyptian government on the sidelines of the AU Summit last March in Kigali.
