Counterterrorism: Army finds 11 air-to-ground missiles in Bordj Badji Mokhtar


An ammunition cache, containing 11 air-to-ground missiles (57-mm), has been discovered Thursday, in a search operation in Bordj Badji Mokhtar by an Army detachment, the ministry of National Defence said in a statement.

As part of the fight against terrorism, detachments of People’s National Army discovered and destroyed, yesterday 05 December 2018, during search operations carried out separately in Tizi-Ouzou, Jijel, Batna and Bordj Bou Arreridj, three (03) homemade bombs and (11) terrorist casemates containing ammunition, detonation means, sleeping effects and various objects.

As part of the fight against organized crime, detachments of the ANP intercepted, following patrols of excavation and research carried out in Tamanrasset and Bordj Badji Mokhtar, (20) gold miners and seized a metal detector, (05) generator sets, (09) jackhammers, as well as two (02) all-terrain vehicles and two (02) motorcycles.

Moreover, a combined ANP detachment arrested four (04) drug traffickers in Béchar with (42) kilograms of treated Hashish, while (2182) units of different drinks were seized in El-Oued.

Also, coast guards and elements of the National Gendarmerie have foiled attempts to smuggle (49) people aboard craft boats to Oran, Mostaganem and Ain Témouchent.
