The sixth edition of Tlemcen’s cinematographic days kicks off, on Wednesday, at Abdelkrim Dali Culture Palace in the city of Tlemcen, in the presence of numerous students, academics, and directors.
This new edition registered, according to the president of cinema club of the Palace of Culture, Djebbour Abdelmajid, a “record number” of participants (more than 23) from different parts of the country.
“This cultural meeting aims to create a space for exchange between young filmmakers interested in this artistic activity on one hand and encourage, on the other hand, young people to participate in the revival of the 7th national art,” underlined the same manager.
This cultural event will see the projection of more than 23 shorts that will compete for the first three places, the same source pointed out.
The jury, which will evaluate the performances, is composed of a university professor specialized in cinema, Henni Karima, the theater director and artist, Ali Abdoune and the filmmaker Djebbour Abdelmajid.
Training workshops on cutting editing techniques as well as lectures on cinema are planned during these days, which show a strong presence of students from Arts Department of the University of Tlemcen.
The opening session was marked by the projection of a docu-fiction on the life and journey of Saint Augustine, directed by the Egyptian Chawki El Majiri on the occasion of the event “Constantine, capital of Arab culture 2011 “.
