2nd anniv. of Fidel Castro physical disappearance commemorated in Algeria


Collaborators and officials of the Cuban embassy in Algeria commemorated the second anniversary of the physical disappearance of Fidel Castro.

In this aspect, the Cuban officials presented the documentary ”The Merit of Staying Alive,” recalling the figure of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution and his close relationship with Algerian personalities such as Houari Boumedienne and Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

The audiovisual produced by Mundo Latino, directed by Omelio Borroto, which gathers moments of the caravan’s journey through the whole island with the remains of the Commander in Chief and valuable testimonies of his comrades, was presented at the headquarters of the Cuban embassy in this city.

For his part, the Cuban ambassador, Clara M. Pulido, recalled that by historical coincidence, Fidel’s death occurred on the same day that 60 years ago the Granma yacht with 81 expeditionaries had left Mexico, ready to overthrow the dictator Fulgencio Batista.
