Besides, Qatar has welcomed the call of Algeria for holding a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Ministers Council of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), as an important step to activate the joint Arab action.
In addition, the European Union (EU) noted, Friday, “with interest” the Algerian initiative for the revival of the Arab Maghreb Union.
“We note with interest Algeria’s proposal to hold a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Arab Maghreb Union,” said the EU spokesperson, noting that in general “any constructive initiative that can contribute to good cooperation in the Maghreb region is welcome”.
Algeria has officially contacted the Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) to convene “within shortened deadlines” a meeting of the Union’s Foreign Affairs Ministers Council, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday in a communiqué.
