The play “Macbeth” by William Shakespeare, rewritten by Romanian playwright Eugène Ionesco and staged by Ahmed Khoudi, was presented, Saturday, at the regional theatre Kateb Yacine of Tizi Ouzou, before an audience enthralled by the performance.
This play, produced by the Algerian National Theater Mehieddine Bachtarzi, deals with the thirst for power. It features the story of two generals plotting against their king; “dictator” Duncan to overthrow him and seize the throne.
Two generals loyal to the king, Banco and Macbeth, succeed in defeating this plot but also end up coveting the throne and manage to kill the king.
This play will be performed again today (Monday) at the theater of Tizi-Ouzou, then it will be presented Tuesday in Bejaia, before being performed in the cities of El Eulma, Constantine and Annaba.
