GCTF: Meetings on capacity building in West African countries as of Tuesday in Algeria

Algeria will host, as from Tuesday, the 2nd plenary meeting of the working group of the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) on capacity building in the West African countries and a workshop on “police cooperation between the countries of West Africa,” said Sunday a communiqué of Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The opening ceremony of the two meetings, which will last three days and fall within the framework of the activities of the GCTF, of which Algeria is a founding member, will be chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdelkader Messahel .

“Matters relating to the evolution of the terrorist threat in the Sahel region, the management of border security, the return of foreign terrorist fighters, the financing of terrorism, the prevention of radicalization and extremism violent, and for the first time, the role of women in the fight against these scourges, will be discussed at this meeting, “said the same source.

More than 100 experts in the areas of prevention and counter-terrorism and violent extremism, representing GCTF member countries, countries of the West Africa region as well as international and regional organizations including the UN, the African Union, the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the European Union, AFRIPOL, EUROPOL and INTERPOL will take part in this second meeting of the GCTF Working Group and the workshop on “police cooperation between West African countries”, the statement added.
