National Melhun Poetry contest: Poet Adel Mekkaoui awarded first Prize


Poet Adel Mekkaoui has won the first prize, “Sidi Lakhdar Benkhelouf Award,” at the second National Melhun Poetry Contest, held in Mostaganem (365-km west of Algiers).


The announcement of the award-winning poets in this contest was made during an artistic evening, organized at the House of Culture “Ould Abderrahmane Kaki”, on the occasion of the celebration of the Mawlid Ennabaoui Echarif.

The second place went to the poet Abdelhafidh Abdelghaffar from M’sila province and the third prize went to the poet Atoui Abdelkader from Djelfa province.

The jury awarded, in this contest, a prize of encouragement to the poetess Fatima Rahmi from Mostaganem province for her qacida “Tadj El Abrar”.

Religious madihs were animated, during this evening, by the troupe “Nour El Mostafa” and the mounchid Bendehiba Belaila, in addition to poetic readings of the poet Nacer Hadjadj, in the presence of families of Mostaganem and melhoun fans.
