An atmosphere of faith and spirituality marked, Monday, the celebration of the festival of Mawlid Ennabaoui, the birth of the Prophet of Islam, Mohamed (Peace Be Upon Him) at zaouia Belkaidia hebria of Algiers.
Symbolic gifts were distributed to the winners of the Koran recitation and psalmody contest for students under 15 years of age in the different constituencies of the wilaya of Algiers. On this occasion, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Mohamed Aïssa recalled the recommendations of the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika since 2005 to dedicate the month of Rabie El Awal of the Hegira to the life and work of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). “Deeply committed to Islam, the Algerian people pay special attention to the month of Rabie El Awal (month of birth of the Prophet), especially through the perpetuation of religious rites and culinary traditions,” Aissa said. He also recalled the Sira Ennabawiya (life of the Prophet Mohamed PBUH) which will be celebrated, throughout the month of Rabie El Awal, including the presentation of religious communications by Imams and chouyoukh to instill in young people the love of the prophet PBUH. The minister said that the celebration of this holiday coincided with the festivities celebrating the outbreak of the national revolution (November 01), adding that these are two major flagship events symbolizing the cohesion and strong link between the Algerians, especially as Sira Ennabawiya has much inspired the national revolution. For Mr. Aissa, the celebration of the mawlid is also an opportunity to highlight the message conveyed by Islam especially at the level of Zaouïas. The ceremony was attended by several ministers, personalities and members of the diplomatic corps of the Muslim world accredited in Algeria.
