Algeria officially qualifies for 2019 African Cup of Nations


Algeria’s national team has officially qualified to the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.


Les Verts managed to qualify to the African Cup of Nations for the 18th time in their history after defeating Togo 4-1. Algeria topped group D, which also includes Benin and Gambia, with 10 points from three wins, one draw and one loss.

Algeria managed to take an early three-goal advantage through Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez in the 14th and 3oth minutes and Youcef Attal in the 28th minute. Togo’s Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba managed to pull one back for the hosts in the 55th minute before Baghdad Bounedjah completed the scoring during stoppage-time.
