Lower House passes Finance Bill 2019

The members of the People’s National Assembly (Lower House) have adopted, Thursday, the Finance Bill 2019, during a plenary session chaired by Speaker Moad Bouchareb, in the presence of the members of the government.

The majority parties have supported the bill while the opposition parties (the Workers Party (PT), the Movement of the society for peace (MSP), the Union Ennahda-Adala-Bina, and the Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD)), voted against the bill.

The deputies of the El-Moustakbal Front abstained.

The deputies of the Socialist Forces Front (FFS-opposition) did not attend the voting session because the party’s parliamentary group suspended its parliamentary activities since last month. The suspension decision was made public last October 26th.

According to the finance ministry, the bill is part of the State continued efforts to alleviate the negative impacts of declining resources on the national economy, in a context marked by tensions on the country’s financial internal and external equilibrium, due to the fall of oil prices.
