URGENT – Newly appointed Speaker Mouad Bouchareb replaces Ould Abbes at FLN head


Mouad Bouchareb, recently elected new Speaker of People’s National Assembly, replacing Saïd Bouhadja, has been appointed by the office of the National Liberation Front party (FLN) to succeed Djamel Ould Abbes at the head of the oldest political party.

According to a source from the FLN, Djamel Ould Abbes has filed a long-term sick leave (45 days), because of a cardiac malaise he suffered very early this Wednesday morning.

As a reminder, Djamel Ould Abbes was elected on October 22, 2016, at the head of the FLN, succeeding Amar Saadani. This resignation comes six months before the presidential election.
