URGENT – FLN: Djamel Ould Abbes resigns


The Secretary General of National Liberation Front Party (FLN), Djamel Ould Abbes, has today, Wednesday, November 14, resigned.


Elected October 22, 2016 as the head of the oldest political party in Algeria, Djamel Ould Abbes resigns a few months ahead  the presidential election scheduled for April 2019.

Biography of Djamel Ould Abbes
Djamel Ould Abbes, born February 24, 1934 in Tlemcen, is an Algerian politician, member of the FLN.

Medical degree in Germany  thanks to a scholarship of the FLN, he becomes the independent director of health of the wilaya of Tlemcen.


1982-1992: Member of People’s National Assembly (FLN).
1996-1997: President of the Foreign Affairs Commission at the CNT
1999-2001: Minister of National Solidarity.
2001-2002: Minister of National Solidarity and Social Action.
2003-2007: Minister of National Solidarity and Employment.
2007: Member of People’s National Assembly.
2007-2008: Minister of National Solidarity.
2008-2010: Minister of National Solidarity, Family and National Community Abroad.
2010 -2012: Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform.
2016: Secretary General of the FLN party.
