The African campaign “Carmma” was launched, on Thursday at the headquarters of the Saharawi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of the President of the Saharawi National Council, Khatri Addouh, as representative of the Saharawi President, Ibrahim Ghali, and the Minister of Public Health, Mohamed Lamine Dedi and a delegation of the AU commission.
The launch of this campaign coincides with Africa’s celebration of “Carma week” aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality.
In an address delivered on behalf of the Sahrawi President, Khatri Addouh hailed the celebration of this event, being the 50th member of the AU that adopted this campaign as part of its commitment to implement the 2063 agenda.
A delegation of the AU commission had previously arrived in the refugee camps as part of a two-day working visit to the institutions of the Saharawi State.
The delegation is made up of 13 members of the AU Political and Social Affairs Commissions, one member of the AU and one of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
