Algeria re-elected at International Telecommunication Union Council

Algeria was re-elected, with 134 of the 177 votes cast, at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council, during the elections held in Dubai on Monday, as part of the Plenipotentiary Conference, the supreme body of this International Organization.

This re-election, says a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made public Monday evening, “strengthens the status of our country in this international institution and allow it to continue, as it has always done, to play actively and effectively a central role in the evolution of telecommunications for the benefit of the people of the world, especially in developing countries “.

Since its first election to the ITU Council at the Geneva Conference of 1965, Algeria has been regularly re-elected at all sessions in recognition of its commitment and the effectiveness of its contribution to the various conferences, assemblies and meetings of the organs of the Union, recalled the communiqué.
