Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Noureddine Bedoui said Sunday, in Algiers, that DZD100 billion has been devoted to municipal development plans, as part of the finance bill 2019, to allow municipalities to meet people’s needs and carry out local development projects.
“A total of DZD100 billion have been provided to the municipal development plans, which shows the authorities’ strong will and their determination to carry on supporting municipalities in achieving a real local development and allow them to meet the citizens’ needs and execute local projects.”
The projects include drinking water supply, sanitation and improving access to isolated areas,” Bedoui told the Committee on Finance and Budget of the People’s National Assembly while presenting the Finance Bill 2019, at a meeting attended by Minister of Relations with Parliament Mahdjoub Bedda.
In this respect, the minister said the money will be provided to the municipalities according to “demographic, geographic and financial indicators,” taking into consideration the needs expressed by each area and the financial resources available.
“The amounts provided to local authorities through their fund of solidarity and guarantee will significantly shrink,” Bedoui said.
This fund, he added, will grant during 2019 “financial support to the operating, equipment and investment budgets of the municipalities.”
