Algeria partakes in 41st APU Conference in Abuja


A joint parliamentary delegation representing the People’s National Assembly (Lower House) and the Council of the Nation (Upper House) will partake in the 73rd session of the Executive Committee of the 41st Conference of the African Parliamentary Union (APU), scheduled on 05-09 November in Abuja, the Upper House announced Sunday.

The agenda for these meetings will focus on the consideration of a number of themes, including “the role of parliaments in countering terrorism, armed groups and organized crime in Africa, the strengthening of private investment as an essential factor in economic development in Africa, as well as the consolidation of girls’ education, as a means of combating early marriage in Africa,” the source added.

A new Secretary General of the UPA will be elected during this meeting.

In this aspect, the Vice President of the Council of the Nation Taher Kellil will lead the Algerian delegation, made up of several members, including Saïd Kacha, Aicha Barki and Noureddine Belatrèche.

Besides, People’s National Assembly will also be represented by two deputies, Belkacem Selatnia and Fatiha Berrahou, the statement concluded.
