Algerian Larbi Djacta elected Chairman of UN International Civil Service Commission


Candidate of Algeria Larbi Djacta has been elected on Friday in New York as chairman of the UN International Civil Service Commission for a four-year term as from January 1st, 2019.

Mr. Djacta was elected following a vote at the Fifth UN Commission on Administrative and Budgetary Questions.

He will begin his term on 1 January 2019 succeeding Mr. Kingston Rhodes of Sierra Leone. Djacta has previous experience as an ICSC commissioner and in the Algerian foreign service and UN peacekeeping.
