Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sent a cable of greeting to President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika on the occasion of the 64 anniv of the outbreak of the national liberation war, in which he underlined the need for the further broadening of bilateral relations.
“I warmly congratulate you and the Algerian people on the day,” he said.
President Rouhani also hoped that relations between Iran and Algeria would expand in every field, praying for the success of Algerian president and prosperity of its people.
Iran and Algeria have in recent years tried to further strengthen ties between the two countries in different arenas.
Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri in a message to Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmajid Tebboune last year underlined the need for the expansion of mutual cooperation between Tehran and Algiers in various fields.
Also, in September 2016, Jahangiri in a meeting with Algerian Energy Minister Noureddine Bouterfa in Tehran underlined the need for removing obstacles in the way of banking relations between the two countries.
“Settlement of the banking problems will play an effective role in developing the two countries’ economic ties,” Jahangiri said during the meeting.
He also stressed Tehran and Algiers’ enthusiasm for boosting cooperation in the field of energy, but, meantime, said, “Iran and Algeria, as two oil-rich states, should decrease their dependence on oil revenues.”
