A national flag-raising ceremony was held at midnight Wednesday in Maqam Echahid (Martyr’s Memorial), Algiers, to mark the 64th anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution (1 November 1954).
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Mujahideen (liberation war veterans) Tayeb Zitouni, members of government, the secretary general of the National Liberation Front (FLN), Djamel Ould Abbes, national personalities, liberation war veterans and representatives of various national institutions and social groups.
The ministry of Mujahideen hosted a reception at the national museum of Mujaheed, during which Zitouni said the Revolution of November “will remain our main reference, considering its ideals and noble teachings.”
Zitouni greeted the sacrifices made by “the People’s National Army and the different security bodies.”
Besides, the ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted at midnight Wednesday a ceremony marking the 64th anniversary of the outbreak of the Revolution of 1 November 1954, during which the national flag was raised.
