Premier Ouyahia inaugurates 23rd International Book Fair of Algiers

Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, on Monday, inaugurated the 23rd edition of the International Book Fair of Algiers (SILA) at Exhibition Centre of Algiers. The Fair will run until 10 November.

 

Accompanied by members of the government, Mr. Ouyahia visited several booths at this show, compromising 1,015 publishing houses, including 276 Algerian, exhibiting some 300,000 books on different fields.

Guest of honor, China participates in Sila 2018 with more than 10.000 books, mostly translated to Arabic and French languages and dedicated to traditional Chinese culture, learning the Chinese language or science and technology.

More than 40 publishers, and six authors including; “Mo Yan”, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, will host meetings with the public at the booth of China, where no less than 2,500 titles in Mandarin (official language of China) will be exposed.

It is worth mentioning that up to 90 guests, among them writers, novelists and historians including 65 Algerians, will attend this key event which aims to attract visitors from all parts of Algeria.

The 2018 edition of the book fair is dedicated to the memory of Algerian authors who passed away in recent months, such as; the novelist Noureddine Saâdi, the critic Cheribet Ahmed Cheribet, the poet Athmane Loucif, the mujahideen and authors Mustapha Tounsi and Mohamed Sahnoun, and the novelist Hafnaoui Zaghez.
