Mauritania expresses keenness to further enhance “historical, special” relations with Algeria

Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed expressed Sunday, in Algiers, his country’s willingness to promote the “historical and special” relations with Algeria, welcoming the positive developments of these relations in past few years.

 

Visiting Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, hailed “positive developments” in bilateral relations with Algeria.

“We are proud of (our relations) and want them to move forward,” Ahmed told reporters after the talks he held with his counterpart Abdelkader Messahel, part of a two-day visit to Algeria.

“This new dynamic in our bilateral relations is displayed at the Fair of Algerian Products that the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott, due to be held on Tuesday,” the Mauritanian top diplomat noted.

This economic meeting will be attended by some 170 Algerian companies, he specified, noting that the volume of trade exchange between Algeria and Mauritania is still far from the expectation and potential of the two North African nations.
