Algeria likely to supply Libya with electricity

“Algeria’s state-run Energy Company Sonelgaz and Libya’s General Electricity Company  (GECOL) have agreed to devolop a roadmap which would allow the launch of a project in Libya so as to further improve the Libyan electricity production,” pointed out, on Thursday, Sonelgaz’s Director, Mohammed Arqab.

The official pointed out that the two companies will devolop a roadmap, adding that a delegation of Sonelgaz technicians has paid a working visit to Libya in order to inspect the generators and restore them so that they could launch a project to complete the medium voltage line to transfer energy to Libya, according to the Algerian newspaper Al-Nasr.

Arqab stated last July that Algeria was studying the possibility of linking the high-voltage lines between Algeria and Libya via Tunisia to supply Libya with electricity.
