New appointments in ANP’s ranks by President Bouteflika


The President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, has announced new appointments in the ranks of People’s National Army,  affecting seven Major-Generals, reported, Monday, Ennahar TV.

In this aspect, Major General Gheris Abdelhamid was appointed Secretary General of MDN, replacing Zenakhri Amine. The chief of equipment, General Major Ali Akroum, has been appointed Director General of Organization and Procurement. General-Major Mohamed Tiboudelat was appointed to replace Ali Akroum as head of the Materiel Directorate.

Commanders of the Air Forces, Ground Forces and 3rd Military Region replaced

President Bouteflika’s movement has also affected commanders of land and air forces.

Major General Abdelkader Lounes was dismissed from his position as Commander of the Air Forces. He was replaced by Major General Boumaiza Hamid.

The Commander of the Land Forces, Ahcene Tafer, was also replaced by Major-General Said Chengriha, who had held the position of Commander of the 3rd Military Region.

Major-General Ismail Mustapha was appointed as the Commander of the 3rd Military Region.  He used to hold the position of Deputy commander of the 2nd Military Region. For this purpose, Major General Hadj Laroussi  has been appointed deputy commander of the 2nd Military Region.

In addition, President Bouteflika has terminated the duties of General Remil, Director of the National Social Security Fund.

The recent appointments in the ranks of  People’s National Army  (ANP) “enshrine the principle of leadership alternation,” said  El-Djeich magazine for the month of September.
