Algeria, China to build phosphate plant worth $6b

Minister of Industry and Mines Youcef Yousfi highlighted that Algeria will cooperate with China to build a phosphate plant worth $6 billion in Algeria’s northeast.

The official added that the aim of this project is to exploit  the rich, high-quality phosphate resources in Algeria to produce fertilizers, ammonia, silicon and other materials used in various economic activities.

In this aspect, the project will be inked between two Algerian firms and two Chinese companies, the minister pointed out.
