Phosphate complex project: Investment worths USD$ 6 billion


The cost of the phosphate complex project, which is located in Algeria’s eastern region and which is projected to start operations in 2022, is amounted to nearly USD$6 billion, said Thursday in Algiers Minister of Industry and Mines Youcef Yousfi.

Speaking at a session of People’s National Assembly, devoted to oral questions, the Minister said that “the total investment volume of this integrated project amounts to nearly $ 6 billion, divided between Bled El-Hadba mine in Tebessa ($ 1.2 billion), Hadjer Kebrit’s platform in Souk Ahras ($ 2.2 billion), Hadjar Essoud’s Skikda platform ($ 2.5 billion), and the port of Annaba (0.2 billion dollars).

This project concerns the exploitation of phosphate extracted from the field of Bled El-Hadba in the wilaya of Tebessa, with a capacity of 500 million tons and the valorization of this natural resource through the production of fertilizers, ammonia , silicon and other materials used in different economic activities.

This integrated project will be realized in partnership between two Algerian groups Sonatrach and ASMIDAL-MANAL and two Chinese groups CITIC and WENGFU.
