Project of El Aricha-Beni Saf gas pipeline, very important for Algeria’s economy


The project of the gas pipeline between El Aricha (in the province of Tlemcen) and Beni Saf (the province of Ain Témouchent) is extremely important for Algeria’s economy, Energy Minister Mustapha Guitouni said Wednesday in Tlemcen.


“This project is part of the program to develop and furthen strengthen the supply capacity of Algerian natural gas and allow our country to have operational flexibility to meet the growing needs of the national market” said the Minister when laying the foundation stone for the realization of the gas pipeline (EGDPF 48) linking El Aricha to Beni Saf.

This project, described as “very ambitious” with 197 kilometers long and whose implementation was entrusted to two national public companies, namely; Cosider and Enac, with a budget estimated at 31.59 billion AD.

The reception of this important gas pipeline, which will cross some 30 municipalities,  is planned for 2020, according to Sonatrach officials.


“Once completed, this project will have a very positive impact on the population, which will benefit from new job positions and generate additional financial revenues for the municipalities,” said Mustapha Guitouni. 

The visit of Minister, who was accompanied by the CEOs of Sonelgaz and Sonatrach, was marked, in the morning at the headquarters of the wilaya, by a signing ceremony of a sponsorship agreement between Sonatrach and the team of W.A.Tlemcen.
