FM Messahel represents President Bouteflika at Kofi Annan’s funeral in Accra Thursday


Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel is to take part Thursday, in Accra, Ghana, in the funeral of the former United Nations Secretary General Koffi Annan, as a representative of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

“Representative of the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdelkader Messahel, will take part, tomorrow in Accra, at the funeral ceremony of the late Koffi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations,” said the press release.

Kofi Annan, the first person in sub-Saharan Africa to lead the international body and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001, died at the age of 80 on 18 August.
