Iraq summons Algerian Ambassador after ‘Pro-Saddam Hussein chants’ at football match

The Ambassador of Algeria to Iraq, was summoned, on Monday, over the misunderstanding related to the chants made by Algerian football fans, hailing the previous Iraqi regime during a match between Iraqi Quwa al-Jawiya and Algerian USMA.


The chants have led to fierce reactions by Iraqi Football Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoning the Algerian ambassador.

In a statement, the Iraqi Ministry demanded clarification, urging the Algerian side to assume its responsibility for protecting the Iraqi citizens in Algeria and abstain from any act that could irritate the Iraqi people.
