Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia said Tuesday, in Beijing, that relations between Algeria and China “date back to the national liberation struggle,” welcoming the considerable progress made in this respect.

In his speech at the Third Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum where he participates in his capacity as Representative of the President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the Prime Minister stressed that “Algeria and China are linked by relations dating back to  the national liberation struggle “, while welcoming, at the same time, the considerable progress recorded, which have been crowned in recent years by a Global Strategic Partnership Agreement and a Five-Year Cooperation Plan.

Ouyahia welcomed the density of trade between Algeria and China, which exceeds $ 9 billion a year, as well as the participation of Chinese companies in the realization of Algeria’s vast development programs, with a total of more than $ 10 billion each year.

Addressing the Chinese initiative of the new Silk Road, Mr. Ouyahia said that Algeria’s accession to this initiative will bring “a stronger density to the cooperation and strategic partnership between Algeria and China”.
