Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia held discussions in Beijing, Tuesday, with his Tunisian counterpart, Youssef Chahed, on regional issues of common interes.
Both officials examined ways to strengthen mutual co-operation, underlining the excellent Algerian-Tunisian relations and expressing the need to raise the two countries’ economic co-operation to the level of their political co-operation.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 3rd Summit of the Forum on China-African Co-operation (FOCAC) which Ouyahia attended as the representative of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. Also present during the discussions was Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel.
Noting that the Algerian-Tunisia Bilateral Committee will be meeting next year, Chahed said he broached with Ouyahia various issues of common interest, including “the stay of Algerian tourists in Tunisia as well as trade between the two neighbouring countries”.
