⚠️ Cholera Epidemic: Reason behind outbreak of epidemic revealed


Ministry of Health, Population and Hospitals’ Reform indicated that the reason behind the outbreak of Cholera epidemic  is a contaminated water source.

According to Ennahar TV, Oued (valley) Beni Azza, in the province of Blida is behind the outbreak of the epidemic. The cholera vibrio was found in samples of the water of this river that crosses several areas of Blida’s province,  reaching communes of the capital Algiers.

In this aspect, the cholera vibrio was found in several areas, including Ben Achour, Beni Tamou and Khezrouna.

the valley’s water is used, according to the same source, for irrigation.

Cholera is a serious contagious infection that causes death from acute diarrhoea induced by the bacillus Vibrio cholerae, which spreads in the absence of hygiene or as a result of drinking contaminated water or fruits and vegetables.

The bacillus, which lives between one and seven days, causes acute diarrhoea leading to severe dehydration of the body and other complications in the heart, lungs and kidneys.
