3rd Summit of FOCAC seeks stronger community with a shared future


The third summit of the FOCAC, themed: “China and Africa: Towards an Even Stronger Community with a Shared Future Through Win-Win Cooperation,” is being held September 3 – 5.


This year’s summit, chaired by President Xi Jinping, seeks to build a stronger community with a shared future. It will yield important outcomes including the connection of the Belt and Road Initiative with Agenda 2063 of the African Union and the UN 2030 Agenda on sustainable development.

In this aspect, attendees from both African continent and China will hold talks and close interchanges so as to bridge gaps to further enhance cooperation which will contribute to the building of a community with shared future for mankind.

Fourteen sub-forums and side events, covering various people-centered areas, will take place before and after the summit.

Since its inception 18 years ago, the FOCAC has held two summits to date; the first summit was held in November 2006 in Beijing, PRC, and the second in Johannesburg, South Africa from December 3 – 4, 2015.

It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia left Algiers for Beijing representing President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika in this Summit.
