Morocco: Leader of Hirak protest movement on hunger strike


The leader of the social protest movement “Hirak” in Morocco, Nasser Zefzafi, who has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, went, Thursday, on hunger strike in protest of his  conditions of detention, his father said.


Earlier, Nasser Zefzafi led a protest movement in the marginalised north of Morocco in 2016 and 2017.
In June, the leader of the social protest movement “Hirak” in Morocco was handed a 20-year jail term along with three others.  They were accused of  “plotting to undermine the security of the state”.
