African Para-Powerlifting Championships: Algeria snatches nine medals, ranked 3rd


Algeria has been ranked third with nine medals (one gold, four silver and four bronze) in the general ranking at the African Nations Championships of Para-Powerlifting after two days of competition, held on Friday and Saturday in Harcha-Hacene sports hall of Algiers.

The only Algerian gold medal was won Friday by Lamia Adra, while the silver medals were snatched by Hocine Bettir (- 65 kg), Hadj Ahmed Beyour (-49 kg), Houria Akib (-73 kg) and Samira Guerioua (-45 kg).

The bronze medals were snatched by Houria Arabi (-51 kg), Sabrina Moussaoui (-41 kg), Naima Saidi (-67 kg) and Kheirddine Ababsa (-54 kg).

The 2nd edition of the Para-Powerlifting African Championship (juniors and seniors), after that of Cairo in 2009, recorded the participation of 86 athletes (48 men and 38 ladies) from 15 countries.
