Algeria will participate, along other African countries, at the 10th edition of the Africa Youth Chess Championship, being held from August 12 to 18 and hosted by Kenya.
East Africa will be represented by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Other participating countries include Algeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Cameroon, Somalia and Egypt.
Algeria will be represented by 17 players, with South Africa fielding 23 players, Kenya 58 players, Namibia 15, while Uganda and Zimbabwe will have 14 players each during this year’s one-week tournament.
Algeria’s Candidate Master Araoun Saadi, Kenya’s Sumit Satish, Liloko Elvis and Munene Brian, Zambia’s Patrick Linda and Namibia’s Van der Anthony are among the top contenders.
