Algerian-Indian Mahindra plant for agricultural tractor assembly in the industrial park of Oued Aissi, Tizi-Ouzou (103-km east of Algiers), is ready to go into operation, the plant’s CEO told APS.
A production plant of Mahindra brand agricultural tractors in Tizi-Ouzou, resulting from an Algerian-Indian partnership, got the approval of the concerned authorities for the launch of its production.
In this aspect, a representative of the Indian partner, the regional manager of development operations relations in North Africa, Bobby Salwan, paid, on Wednesday, a working visit to the province of Tizi-Ouzou, where he held a meeting with his Algerian counterpart, Lahlou Azouaou.
During the meeting, both officials broached various issues, recalling the importance of this factory in creating jobs and further boosting agriculture and mechanical industry.
The two partners were received, also, by the President of the province People’s Assembly, Youcef Aouchiche who stressed on the importance granted by the Assembly to investments, accompanying economic operators in their efforts to realize their projects.
“The tractor assembly unit, built in Oued-Aïssi, is an investment that represents an added value in terms of wealth and jobs creation,” added the same official.
Earlier in a statement to Algerian Radio 3, the CEO of LD Azouaou, owner of the plant, Lahlou Azouaou indicated that “the factory has a production capacity of 3,000 tractors per year“.
This project, whose realization cost exceeds 2.5 billion dinars, “will create 220 jobs in 2018 to reach 500 ones in 2019,” said Mr. Azouaoua, adding that up to 1000 indirect jobs will also be created at the level of the distribution network, which will be established in different provinces “.
