Agrana Fruit acquires 49% of Algeria’s Elafruits SPA’s shares


Agrana Fruit, part of Austria’s Agrana Group, has acquired 49% of Algerian producer of fruit preparations Elafruits SPA’s shares.


In this aspect, Agrana Fruit highlighted that it has chosen Algeria as this latter is an important market in Africa.

“This acquisition is another move to strenghten our leading global position in fruit solutions. The existing product portfolio and the option of expanding our production capacity close to major custumers in Algeria will accelerate the growth of Agrana fruit in North Africa,” said Agrana Fruit’s CEO.

It is worth mentioning that Algeria’s Elafruits SPA, located in Akbou, around 200km east of Algiers, is a subsidiary of Groupe Batouche Eurl.

The company, that has a workforce of around 100 employees, generated revenues of approximately €7 million (US$8.198 million) in its 2017 financial year.

Austria’s Agrana Fruit now maintains 29 production sites in 21 countries.
