In another CAF Champions League encounter, ES Setif took on Difaa El Jadidi and won with a last gasp goal in a 2-1 victory against their North African rivals.
ES Setif absolutely dominated the match from start to finish despite going behind after just four minutes. A freak strike from 25 yards beat the goalkeeper Zeghba to give the Moroccans an early lead in Algeria.
But it did not last very long. Bougelmouna, who was making his debut after signing from Algerian Cup winners USM Bel Abbes, scored in his first game for ESS after some great work by Guecha.
Guecha should have had a penalty after he had his shorts pulled in the box, but the referee somehow did not spot it.
But in the 89th minute, Guecha toe poked the winner in front of the home fans from Aiboud’s pass.
At the halfway stage in the group, ES Setif have given themselves real hope of progressing with their first points of the phase.
It now looks as though the two Algerian clubs will battle it out for second place, after TP Mazembe of DR Congo won every match so far.
