FM Messahel reaffirms Algeria’s unalterable principle not to intervene in other countries’ internal affairs

“There was no international and political pressure to get Algeria involved in the war against terrorism in the region,” pointed out Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel.

Messahel told Algerian radio, Thursday, “Algeria is far from these attempts because of its unalterable principle not to intervene in other countries’ internal affairs and its firm belief in protecting its own borders.”

Messahel stressed,  “Algeria’s refusal to intervene in regional hotbeds does not mean it does not contribute to the fight against terrorism. On the contrary, we are providing logistic support and humanitarian aid to neighbouring countries .”

He added: “Algeria is committed to a strong position of non-intervention in other countries’ internal affairs.”

Messahel drew attention to Algeria’s role in helping Malian and Libyan parties reach political solutions and its exchange of views with Egypt and Tunisia regarding the Libyan crisis.
