OHCHR welcomes Algeria’s compliance with International Human Rights Charters

A UN delegation from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) welcomed Algeria’s efforts to promote human rights, a statement of the People’s National Assembly (APN) said Wednesday.

The UN delegation, led by Mr. Habib Nasri, representative of the MENA office, welcomed “the efforts made by Algeria in the promotion of human rights”, stressing that Algeria “is among the countries that respect international charters and most of international recommendations”.

In this aspect, the representative of the delegation called for the organization of training sessions for Algerian parliamentarians on “human rights mechanisms and the functioning of OHCHR”.

Speaking on this occasion, the President of the Commission presented the important political reforms that Algeria experienced under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
