Algeria’s Wissam Bouzegzi snatched the gold in the junior girls’ race at the African Mountain Bike Championships in Cairo Sunday, while teammate Yasmine Bouzenzen took the bronze in the Under-23 women’s race.
The Algerian team to the championships, made up of nine cyclists competing in the Juniors, Uner-23 and Elite divisions, arrived in the Egyptian capital Friday to compete in the championships which took place on Saturday and Sunday.
Racha Belkacem Benounane represented Algeria in U-23 women’s race, while Yasmine Bouzenzen and Wissem Bouzegzi in junior girls’ race.
It was the first time the Algerian team had participated in the African Mountain Bike Championships.
