Oujda, 2018 Capital of Arab Culture: Mihoubi partakes in opening ceremony


Minister of Culture Azzedine Mihoubi has attended, Friday in Morocco, the opening ceremony of “Oujda, 2018 Capital of Arab Culture” event, at the invitation of his Moroccan counterpart Mohamed El Aaradj, said the ministry in a statement.

The Minister of Culture “responds to the invitation” of his Moroccan counterpart Mohamed El Aaradj, Minister of Culture and Communication.

The event “Oujda, Capital of Arab Culture 2018” which will run until March 29, 2019, showcases the culture and arts of each participating Arab country.

Initiated in 1996 by UNESCO on the proposal of the Arab League, the event “Capital of Arab Culture” aims to promote Arab culture and encourage cooperation in Arab countries.

Algiers and Constantine were designated “Capital of Arab Culture”, respectively in 2007 and 2015.
