Seven hundred and twenty-six (726) people lost their lives and 18 112 others were injured in 15 335 road accidents registered in urban areas of the country, during 2017, according to a report presented Wednesday in Algiers by the General Directorate of Security (DGNS), on the occasion of the disabled people’s National Day.
The balance sheet shows an increase of 5.8% in the number of deaths from road accidents in urban areas, in 2017, or 726 deaths (686 in 2016), while the number of injured fell by 18302 to 18112, a decrease of 1.4%, to which is added a slight decrease in road accidents from 15461 to 15335 accidents.
